我是鄧緯榮 Bird。

前陣子，我回到長洲看媽媽。她安葬在那裡，那是我最多情感記憶的小島：街上的每一間店、每一棟房子，好像都和我有點關係。站在她面前，我沒有覺得失去了什麼，反而覺得透過和她之間的記憶，跟這片土地、這個世界接上了線。

我在一個破碎的家庭長大。媽媽千辛萬苦把我從鄉下帶到香港，為的是她心中更好的生活。那些日子很難，有很多不如意，很多煎熬。小時候的記憶，大多是我不願意回頭看的。

後來我教書，教過一萬五千多個學生；再後來成立了義遊 VolTra，十五年來帶年輕人走到一百多個國家。現在我培訓社工和軌跡發展教練。也是在這些年，我才慢慢學會回頭，把那些難熬的記憶重新整理一遍。然後我發現：正是那些艱難的日子，造就了今天的我。

在帶社工的時候，我常常講一條線：

Not long ago I went back to Cheung Chau to visit my mother. She is buried there, on the island that holds more of my memories than anywhere else: every shop and every building on its streets seems connected to me somehow. Standing in front of her, I didn't feel that I had lost something. Through the memories between us, I felt connected to the land, and to the world.

I grew up in a broken family. My mother went through great hardship to bring me from our village to Hong Kong, for the better life she pictured. Those years were hard, full of disappointment and strain. Most of my childhood memories are ones I never wanted to look back on.

Later I became a teacher and taught more than 15,000 students. Then I founded VolTra and, over fifteen years, took young people to more than 100 countries. Today I train social workers and trajectory development coaches. It was during these years that I slowly learned to look back and sort through the hard memories. And I found that those difficult days were exactly what made me who I am.

When I train social workers, I often draw one line:

我們記得一件事，是因為當時有情緒。有記憶，才有故事。願意把故事說出來，才有信任；有信任，才有關係；而關係，會一點一點改寫一個人的命運。

後來我自己也組成了一個新的家。有了兒子之後，我更想把這些記憶留給他。不是要他記住我，而是不想浪費。好東西，不該收起來。

讀數據科學的時候，我更確定一件事：一個家的過去，其實是我們每個人最重要的數據。沒有過去，就沒有未來。過去改變不了，但我們可以用自己的方式重新詮釋它，再用它去創造未來。

在 AI 會改寫社會底層邏輯的年代，我相信最重要的資本不會只是錢，而是這些只屬於人類的故事和意義。

所以我成立了傳家寶。不是為了處理過去，而是為了創造未來。

We remember something because we felt something at the time. Memories make stories. When we are willing to tell our stories, trust follows; trust builds relationships; and relationships, little by little, rewrite a person's destiny.

Later I built a family of my own. Since my son was born, I've wanted even more to pass these memories on to him. Not so that he remembers me, but because I don't want them wasted. Good things shouldn't stay hidden.

Studying data science made one thing clearer to me: a family's past is the most important data each of us has. Without a past, there is no future. We can't change the past, but we can read it in our own way, and use it to create what comes next.

As AI rewrites the underlying logic of society, I believe the most important capital will not only be money. It will be the stories and meaning that belong to people alone.

That is why I started 傳家寶 For My Family. Not to deal with the past, but to create the future.
